Origin Capital Fund 1

Origin Capital Fund 1 was New Zealand’s first private equity fund dedicated to investing in the New Zealand kiwifruit sector. It has a mandate to invest exclusively in the SunGold™ kiwifruit variety as well as Zespri shares. In June 2021, the Fund achieved its final close, with NZD85m raised from 153 investors wanting exposure to the sector.

The Fund is now fully invested, with a diverse portfolio of nine orchards spanning 102 canopy hectares across the Bay of Plenty, Gisborne, and Kerikeri. The total value of the portfolio stands at NZD 150 million. The Fund is also a top 10 Zespri shareholder.
